Through the guidance of our original charter, the AMHCR strives to provide a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and international forum for academics and practitioners with an interest in marketing, management, and health care research to meet and exchange research insights, ideas, and experiences.

History

The AMHCR was founded in 1981 by Scott Smith and Joe Hair. The organization was formed to sustain a conference that promotes healthcare and marketing research, while also bringing together a community who shares the passion of snow skiing and winter activities. Adapting the model from the medical community, the conference starts early in the morning and resumes for evening sessions, leaving free time to network during the day on the slopes or explore the town. The first conference was in Snowbird, Utah, at the Cliff Lodge. Almost four decades later the conference has visited 14 different resorts across 5 different western states.
